I came across the sign up video for the Breaking Sanity ARC on Instagram during a time when everything I was reading felt dull and predictable, and my life had become repetitive. I had never considered being an ARC reader before, but something about the that video drew me in—whether it was the crow, the cover, or the tantalizing words: "asylum, five psychos, or secret society." I had no clue what I was signing up for, and I certainly wasn't prepared for the powerful effect this book would have on me. Breaking Sanity challenged me in ways no book ever has. It didn't just entertain, it forced me to confront my beliefs, my morals, and my views on right and wrong. Though I've never believed life is black and white, this story tested my most deeply held boundaries. Because I was reading an ARC, there was no public forum to process my intense feelings. After going back and forth with the emotions, I sent what felt like a terrifying email to L.C., asking her how she intended for us to feel about the main characters and their actions. I guess I was essentially looking for permission or validation for my own emotions. L.C. replied herself, reminding me that "there is good and bad in everything; it is your job to find which you want to focus on." She pointed out that we all process trauma differently, and for readers of this genre, it offers the comfort of knowing we are not alone. This was the start to a friendship I didn't know I was missing. L.C. has a brilliant mind and an unparalleled way with words that makes you truly feel and see the picture. Her words are never just text on a page. Her story is a complex journey full of laughs, tears, and moments that make you want to throw the book! The characters and the world are so intricate and realistic that only she could have created them. Her writing style is utterly unique. She has a way of leaving little "easter eggs" throughout the pages that, if picked up, can connect you to answers but will always lead you to more questions. She is a master at provoking deep, thoughtful, and emotional responses. Beyond being a wonderful writer, L.C. is a beautiful soul who genuinely cares about her readers. She devotes so much time to ensuring everyone on her team has what they need—mentally, emotionally, and physically—while juggling everyday life and writing. She is incredibly active and there for us whenever we need her. A simple sign-up form gave me more than I could have ever imagined. I never could have guessed the amount of space that L.C., Hell's Asylum Series, and the team would take up in my head, my heart, my wall and my life. I was a late add to L. C. Gage's arc team. Once I got my hands on the book, I wasn't able to put it down. Had to force myself so I could get some sort of sleep. The fact that she loves to "stalk" your comments as your reading I loved the amount of "spit takes" I gave her while reading was even funnier.
Lys isn't like any other author I have ever read for, not only does she fully engage with the people on her teams, but she truly cares for everyone that reads her books. When she knows someone just read one of the Heavy chapters she's checking in if they are ok and talking to them.
I told her she was stuck with me while reading the first chapter, not only because of her books but because of who she is as a person. She hasn't just become my best friend; she has become family.
She writes with her whole heart and puts everything into her books; she's always worried there isn't enough and is constantly worried about what her readers think. She doesn't just write to write she writes to give her readers something they can truly enjoy!

From a TT video with half of the first page of Breaking Sanitt questioning if anyone would even read before she finished it came not only my all-time favorite book but also a friendship. L.C. pours her heart and soul into what she's writing, and it shows. An author that can make me cry, laugh, feel sorry for, and absolutely hate a character all in a single chapter will forever be at the top of my automatically buy list. I will forever be thankful for the TT video that brought us together but also for an author that took a chance on letting a stranger read the very first copy of her book. What started out as messages and comments about the book quickly turned into a friendship. L.C. has the biggest heart and the sweetest person I know. She is my best friend that easily turned to family. She deserves all the praise and support for everything she decides to do, and I can't wait to be here supporting her though it all.
